We are absolutely delighted to share that Enable Ability has wonThe Community Group Award at the BBC Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards 2025, held yesterday (9th September) at Fratton Park, the home of Portsmouth Football Club.
It was a wonderful afternoon, complete with afternoon tea and the fantastic company of so many inspirational finalists across the South. With eight award categories, from The Animal Award to The Great Neighbour Award, the event was a true celebration of the people and organisations making an impact in their communities.
Speaking about the win, Hollie, Partnerships and Events Officer said:
“We’re still trying to grasp the fact that we won this amazing award. The BBC received around 400 nominations, so to make it through as a finalist was an honour in itself…..to actually win feels even more humbling.
There were so many incredible individuals and groups who, in their own different ways, support the community- so really, we are all winners. Sitting there and watching the videos from other finalists, and then seeing the winners receive their awards, there really weren’t many occasions where there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.”
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our Trustees, staff, volunteers and supporters who keep the charity moving forward. Hollie added, “Without them, there would be no Enable Ability!”
This award is a reflection of the dedication, teamwork, and passion that has driven our charity for 75 years, and we are so proud to continue making a difference for children, young people, and adults with disabilities across Portsmouth and South-East Hampshire.
Thank you to everyone who nominated us, and to BBC Radio Solent for recognising the work of community groups like ours.
