Position Title: Deputy Project Leader

Reports To: Project Leader (Enable Ability)

Hours: 16 hours per month (4 hours per week – 2 hours office-based and 2 hours delivery-based)

Location: Portsmouth, UK (varied venues and office-based work)

Salary: Competitive hourly rate

About the Role: Enable Ability is seeking a passionate and proactive Deputy Project Leader to support the delivery and development of the Enable Ability Over 25’s Group. This exciting project empowers adults with disabilities by providing social opportunities, encouraging independence, and fostering community connections. The Deputy Project Leader will work closely with the Project Leader to plan, organise, and deliver monthly co-production meetings and bi-weekly social meetups. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about working with people with disabilities, has excellent organisational skills, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

– Project Delivery (8 hours/month)

• Assist in the coordination and delivery of monthly co-production meetings, ensuring sessions are engaging and inclusive.

• Support the planning and facilitation of bi-weekly social meetups, including venue setup and activity oversight.

• Engage with participants during sessions, fostering a supportive and fun environment.

• Ensure activities and venues are accessible and meet the needs of all participants.

– Project Administration (8 hours/month)

• Collaborate with the Project Leader to develop and update the project calendar, agendas, and activities.

• Liaise with venues, guest speakers, and other stakeholders to coordinate logistics.

• Record attendance, feedback, and outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.

• Maintain clear communication with participants, carers and support staff.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience working with adults with disabilities or in a community-based role.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

• A positive, proactive attitude with the ability to motivate and engage participants.

• Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.

Enable Ability is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Deputy Project Leader to support the

successful delivery of the Over 25’s Social Group, which empowers adults with disabilities through

social engagement and community-building activities.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

● Provide practical and emotional support to participants, fostering independence.

● Maintain accurate records of attendance, feedback and outcomes.

● Liaise with venues, guest speakers and other stakeholders to coordinate activities.

Experience:

Demonstrate experience working with adults with disabilities or in a community-focused role.

Experience planning or facilitating events, workshops, or activities.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with service users, carers and stakeholders.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Ability to foster independence and inclusion in a supportive environment.

Essential Criteria

Basic IT skills for record-keeping, emailing and document preparation.

Education and Qualifications:

A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

Relevant training or qualifications in social care, community work, or disability support (desirable but not essential).

Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities.

Reliable and approachable, with the ability to build trust and rapport.

Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the project.

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge of accessibility requirements and inclusive practices.

Familiarity with local venues and activities in Portsmouth.

Previous experience in a leader role.

Trained in first aid.

Other Requirements

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Ability to travel to various venues across Portsmouth (own transport desirable).

Enhanced DBS clearance (required).
