Job Role: Deputy Project Leader
Responsible To: Project Leader
Responsible For: Staff, Volunteers and Service Users
Based at: Enable Ability office, home and local venues
Expected hours: 6hrs per day during school holidays (excludes term-time, weekends, bank holidays, November-January and chosen half of the summer holidays). 2hrs per week office time (flexible hours)
MAIN DUTIES: The Deputy Leader will support and lead activities in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas in the school holidays; this includes delivering an activities programme during office hours in the February, May and October half terms, as well as the Easter and one half of the Summer holidays. There will be a requirement for the Deputy Leader to provide cover for the Project Leader in their absence. The Deputy Leader will also work flexible office hours to promote and coordinate an activities programme based on the needs and requirements of the service users, the programme will also be attractive to grant funders to include activities surrounding conservation, environmental and intergenerational work, as well as improvements to the mental health of service users. Additionally, you will maintain Enable Ability’s high profile within the community by organising opportunities to create good PR stories and share such stories using the Enable Ability website, social media platforms and local press.
KEY TASKS:
- To organise and plan a varied activities programme in accordance with the service users needs, requirements and appeal to grant funders.
- To support group activities when available and lead in the Project Leader’s absence.
- To manage all administrative tasks in the Project Leader’s absence.
- Maintain accurate records about the Users for the purpose of the scheme’s development and funders (case studies).
- Promote the aims and objectives of Enable Ability.
- Attend necessary meetings within the Projects and Enable Ability’s wider community.
- Undertake professional training as appropriate – an extensive training programme will be provided for this, both through our internal programmes and the Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership Business Support programme.
- Work in accordance with Enable Ability’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure that information on children is maintained in the strictest confidence at all times, and comply with the requirements of the 1984 Data Protection Act.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post that may be required in accordance with the direction of the Charity Manager, Deputy Manager and Trustees of the charity.
GENERAL OBLIGATIONS: The above job description is a guide that the Deputy Leader will initially have to follow, however it can evolve and can be kept relatively fluid when reviewed every six months in Supervision at the management’s discretion.
