We enable young people aged 6+ with physical/mild-moderate learning disabilities to be active, socialise and partake in some friendly competition.
Every Wednesday from 5.00pm to 7.30pm we meet at Portchester Community School for an action packed session, and we have wheelchairs available for all participants and welcome siblings of all capabilities to participate. There is a small fee for the evening which is collected on the night. Starting with a beginner’s session (5pm to 6pm) we warm up with fun games like Bulldog, before progressing onto passing and shooting drills. We finish with a short game that anyone of any ability can get involved with and enjoy.
Our more experienced players (6pm to 7.30pm) will undertake shooting based drills and then a short competitive game. We have two trained level 2 coaches to deliver our fun filled sessions, and volunteers on hand to assist attendees and even join in the sporting fun.Volunteers are on hand to set-up the session each week and to support, befriend and encourage the young people to fully engage with the activity. Sessions are weekly and group based so it’s fun and sociable.
All volunteers have DBS checks at the enhanced level and have to provide two references.
If you are interested in joining our WCBB sessions as either as a young person or a volunteer please contact our office for more information by calling 023 9267 1874 or sending an email to wcbb@enableability.org.uk
