In March this year, our Portsmouth Youth Project took on the almighty challenge to March their way to Wembley and back, to raise much needed funds.
The project, which supports young people aged 18-25 years living in Portsmouth who have a mild to moderate learning or physical disability, or special educational need, wanted to encourage its members to walk as many miles as they could across the month of March, in a bid to walk from our office in Copnor, to Wembley stadium and back.
We are so proud to announce that not only did they smash the March to Wembley and back once, but an incredible 4 times with a whopping total of 752.96 miles achieved, with 2 of the group members walking over 100 miles each! The icing on the cake was that they also exceeded their target of £300 to reach a grand total of £1882.00!!
PYP Project Leader, Chelsey Langdown, said,
“I can not put into words how incredibly proud I am of every single one of our members. They have gone above and beyond any expectations. I am speechless for the generosity of everyone who has donated, and how much effort everyone put in. They should all be so very proud of themselves!”
Chelsey went on to thank all of the parents who took on the challenge themselves, as well as helping and encouraging their children to take part as much as they could.
An incredible effort all round! Well done Portsmouth Youth Project!
