On Sunday 17th July, Enable Ability were honoured to have been the chosen charity for the ‘Ready to Rock School’ yearly summer gig that takes place at Eastoke Plaza, Hayling Island.
Even though it was on one of the hottest weekends of the year so far, crowds turned up in their hundreds as the Ready to Rock School crew set-up stage, ready to rock!
Throughout the 6-hour performance, the very talented tutors and students of the Ready to Rock School (some as young as 9 years old!) belted out rock classics from Muse, Green Day, Kings of Leon, Blur, and Royal Blood, including some well known songs from the Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age.
We had a few of our Hampshire Youth Project members who came to watch the show and also help obtain donations from the crowd; who were very charitable in making donations to us all day! A big thanks must go to M.A.D Inclusion Discos who donated an extremely generous £100 cash donation, which helped pip the total raised to a fantastic £651.06.
The money will go towards our 15 specialist services for children and adults with disabilities who live in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire; offering inclusive and stimulating social activities and work experiences, and also some much needed respite care for their families.
Sincerest thanks must go to Ready to Rock School for not only supporting us at this event, but for providing some much loved and incredible entertainment for the whole day! Everyone had such a wonderful time!
“Not really knowing what to expect from Ready to Rock School, I was completely blown away with the amount of talent the group had to offer! It was clear that everyone who went to watch (even the passers-by) had an amazing day! We are truly grateful that we were the lucky charity to benefit from this fabulous event- it raised such a wonderful amount!”

Ready to Rock School is run by top vocalist Mark Thompson-Smith B.E.M and leads the South Hampshire locations. Their website states,
“The charity gigs provide a regular target for all of the students to aim for and really give them the chance to show what they have been learning and demonstrate the progress that they have made in the previous four month learning period….it’s truly inspirational!!”
