Just over 2 weeks ago, Southsea Common came alive with thousands of runners taking to the streets of Portsmouth to participate in the Great South Run, with many choosing to run in aid of local charities (including Enable Ability), and for those a bit further afield.
This year, Enable Ability were overwhelmed with support from service users, their families, corporate partners and staff, who choose to support us across the 2-day event! A total of 18 runners ran for Enable Ability- the most the charity have ever had taking part in the Great South Run to date!
For many of our runners, it was their first run; whilst the regulars were aiming to beat their personal bests- or to simply run for fun! One of our runners even got caught on camera with a momentous finish at the finish line! The clip can be seen on the GSR Facebook page here.
Between them all, the 18 runners have raised a whopping £3235 for Enable Ability- a total that will make an incredible difference to the individuals and families who use our services. Our new corporate partners, Premier Group, raised an amazing £1105 alone, and is the first event of many that they are willing to support us with.
“The Great South Run has been such an incredible support to the charity this year. Although I couldn’t be there in person to cheer the runners on, the pictures and video clips I have seen from the day have really pulled at the heartstrings- everyone did so, so well! We can’t thank them enough!”
