It is with great sadness that we report today the passing of Rachel Hannon who died on February 12th after a brave battle with cancer. In accordance with her ‘no fuss’ wishes she had ordered a direct cremation and her remains were then sent to her family in Ireland. No remembrance services in the Portsmouth area are planned we understand.
When Enable Ability took over the management of Landport Community Centre in early 2019 Rachel was the only employee left from the previous administration but it was clear to us all that we had inherited a very special person whose heart was steeped in the community and who made a huge difference every day for the benefit of the people living in the area. Rachel provided a free support service at the centre for local residents to help with technology issues like using PC technology and mobile phones, internet access and helping people apply for benefits, jobs and to create CV’s. She was very much appreciated by all who used the service and had a great relationship with the dance management team at Giselle.
Rachel you will be sadly missed but definitely not forgotten.
