Teamwork in Action: Repair Café Gives EAWheelchair Basketball a Glow-Up!

Community Spirit Keeps Our Wheels Turning!

Our Wheelchair Basketball Club was thrilled to welcome 17 amazing volunteers from the Repair Café Gosport on Saturday, 25th October, who spent three hours giving our wheelchairs some much-needed TLC.

In total, 19 chairs were repaired – with tyres, wheels, and inner tubes replaced, plus a well-deserved polish for some very loved (and well-used!) equipment. The team’s dedication, skill, and enthusiasm made for a fantastic day, and everyone left with a huge sense of achievement!

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Repair Café team for their generosity, and to Carol Weeks, Community Manager at Portchester Community School, for kindly hosting the event. Our Wheelchair Basketball Club has been running for over 25 years, and this kind of community support means the world — especially when time and resources are increasingly stretched.

Our sessions are open to everyone aged 6 and over, and you don’t need to be a wheelchair user to join in! We have all the equipment (freshly serviced and ready to roll!) and run every Wednesday at Portchester Community School:

  • Beginners: 5–6pm

  • Experienced players: 6–7:30pm

Come along, have fun, and keep balling! 🏀
