Thank You to Alexandra Bowls Club for Raising an Incredible £5,410!

We are absolutely delighted to say a heartfelt thank you to Alexandra Bowls Club for choosing Enable Ability as their Charity of the Year for 25/26, and for raising an amazing £5,410!

The club’s Presidential year, which runs from February to February, was led by President Gray and his lady, Steph. Steph has a special connection to Enable Ability, having previously worked within our Inter Activ service- making their support even more special to us.

Throughout the year, the members of Alexandra Bowls Club embraced various fundraising challenges with incredible enthusiasm, generosity and community spirit. From start to finish, they made us feel genuinely welcome at every event we attended- it was a pleasure to be part of such a warm and friendly club.

Their fundraising efforts included:

  • Raffles and quizzes

  • Late night bowls

  • A fantastic Open Day, where some of the Enable Ability team had the chance to try bowling first-hand (although we can’t promise any hidden professional talent was discovered!)

  • Dennyside Day – a South-East England charity bowling group event, which alone raised an incredible £2,000!

  • And a fabulous Ladies Night to round off the year in style

The Ladies Night was a wonderful celebration to end the Presidential year, with everyone dressed up for the occasion. Attendees enjoyed a delicious two-course meal, and the ladies each received beautifully filled and engraved glasses. Heartfelt speeches reflecting on a hugely successful year, concluded this wonderful event.

Partnerships & Events Officer, Hollie, said:

“When we found out that we had been chosen as President Gray’s Charity of the Year, we were absolutely delighted. Knowing that he specifically wanted to support our Saturday Club (a service that means so much to the families who rely on it), made the partnership even more special.

Our fundraising and staff team had the pleasure of attending several of the club’s events throughout the year, and we truly had the best time. From spinning candy floss and trying our hand at bowls for the very first time, to simply enjoying the fantastic atmosphere- we felt so warmly welcomed on every occasion. Alexandra Bowls Club really does feel like one big family, and it was a privilege to be invited into that.

To simply say ‘thank you’ to Gray and Steph almost doesn’t feel enough. They poured their heart and soul into their Presidential Year, and their dedication, energy and commitment to raising funds for Enable Ability has been nothing short of incredible.”

Although the funds were raised for Enable Ability as President Gray’s Charity of the Year, he thoughtfully chose for the £5,410 to support our Saturday Club in particular – a high-needs service offering enriching experiences for young people, and invaluable respite for their families. This generous decision will make a meaningful and lasting difference in our community.

We are so, so grateful to Gray and Steph for their dedication and hard work throughout the year, and we are equally thankful to every single club member who bought raffle tickets, attended events and supported the cause so wholeheartedly.

We are honoured they chose Enable Ability and look forward to sharing just how much of a difference their donation will make.

From all of us at Enable Ability, thank you!
