Over the last 5 years, the Southern Co-op has been a major supporter of our wonderful charity, Enable Ability!
Enable Ability were chosen as the Copnor Road store’s chosen charity for their ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ scheme back in 2017, where £2338 was raised through the sales of bags, co-op branded goods and customer donations. Today, the retail chain continues to support Enable Ability via community grants, and with in-store donations and gift vouchers for fundraising events.
In the last 2 years, Enable Ability has received over £3,500 through various grants from the Southern Co-op, which have gone towards projects such as our Portsmouth Youth Project, Hampshire Youth Project, Landport Larder, Covid-19 food project and the last Christmas Fair (all via the Southern Co-op’s ‘More Inclusive Neighbourhoods’ or ‘Healthier Neighbourhoods’ themes).
Hollie, Partnerships and Events Officer at Enable Ability said,
“Without the Southern Co-op’s support over the years, it would have been very difficult to manage some of the new projects we took on, such as the Covid-19 food project and the now well established Landport Larder. The funds really helped kick these projects off the ground, and now, with the help of other external funding, the Landport Larder in particular has become a vital provision in the heart of our local Charles Dickens Ward community.
In addition, we wouldn’t have managed without the Southern Co-op’s in-store donations for our fundraising events! We have been extremely well supported in this area from many local Co-op stores, and we feel very fortunate as the raffles are always so popular and help us generate lots of additional income! We would really struggle to run our raffles without the Co-op’s support- it’s heartfelt that the staff are always so friendly and supportive when I go to collect donations- that really makes a difference!”
A huge ‘Thank you’ to the Southern Co-op and all their staff- your support has been invaluable! We look forward to continuing our wonderful partnership with you.
