Hampshire Church Flower Club Raises £1,000 for Enable Ability!

We are thrilled to announce that Denmead Church Flower Club has generously donated £1,000 to Enable Ability following their fantastic fundraising efforts throughout 2024!

Our Partnerships and Events Officer, Hollie, first came across the club’s fundraising activities last August when she spotted a coffee morning advertised on Facebook. At the time, she had no idea that the club was raising money for Enable Ability!

“I reached out to Pat, the club’s Treasurer, after seeing the event advertised, not realising that Enable Ability was one of their chosen charities. So, when Pat confirmed that their 2024 fundraising efforts would support both Enable Ability and the Rowans Hospice, I was absolutely delighted!” – Hollie

About Denmead Church Flower Club

Denmead Church Flower Club was officially formed in September 1978 as an independent branch of All Saints Church Denmead Sanctuary Guild. Starting with 48 members eager to learn the art of flower arranging, the club has since grown to 110 members, with around 80+ members and guests attending their monthly meetings. These gatherings, held on the third Wednesday of each month, feature talented demonstrators, engaging guest speakers, and wonderful seasonal events- such as their highly anticipated Christmas demonstration. Pat, the club’s Treasurer, shared more about their fundraising efforts:

“We organise a variety of fundraising activities, including social afternoons, coffee mornings, workshops, book sales- anything we feel will help raise money for our chosen charities. Each year, we support the Rowans Hospice and another local charity selected by our members. In 2024, we were delighted to choose Enable Ability as our second charity.” – Pat, Treasurer

Enable Ability was recommended by a member’s daughter who works in mental health and had suggested several local charities. Flower Club member Carole was drawn to Enable Ability’s mission of supporting both children and adults to develop their full potential, and she put the charity forward to the committee for consideration.

A Special Presentation

Hollie and Enable Ability’s Charity Manager, Richard, were warmly welcomed to the Flower Club’s March meeting for a special cheque presentation. They had the pleasure of meeting Carole (pictured above), Pat, and other committee members while sharing more about the charity’s work and how this generous donation will impact the services we provide.

“We are incredibly grateful to Denmead Church Flower Club for their generous support and to Carole for putting us forward for consideration. With our services costing over £1.4 million each year, every contribution makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for supporting Enable Ability!” – Hollie
