This Saturday, a determined team of staff from Radis Community Care will be lacing up their boots and braving the heights of Mount Snowdon- Wales’ tallest peak at a towering 3,560 feet- all to raise vital funds for Enable Ability.
The team has a special connection to our Inter Activ service, which supports adults aged 17+ with mild to moderate learning disabilities and neurodivergence to gain skills, build confidence, and progress into sustainable, paid employment.
Meet the Hikers
Victoria, Harry, Shanice and Faith, who all work at Maritime House, an Extra Care scheme in Portsmouth, are part of a larger team of nine tackling the Pyg and Miners Track routes up Snowdon this Saturday, 31st May.
They’ve chosen Enable Ability as their fundraising cause- and for good reason.
The team said,
“We work with individuals aged 18+ who have a variety of needs. More recently, we’ve welcomed younger residents to our scheme- some of whom have been directly supported by Enable Ability.”
Over the past two years, staff and residents at Maritime House have raised funds for various local causes through cake sales, food collections and sponsored walks- always with heart, purpose, and community spirit. This year, they’re taking it to the next level by heading up one of the UK’s most iconic peaks.
“Our sub-team of four- Harry Knight, Vicki Wilson, Faith Thorpe, and Shanice Legg- chose Enable Ability because it’s close to our hearts. Harry has worked with Inter Activ through his role in recruitment, and Vicki’s younger sibling benefited from Enable Ability’s services for over 12 years- starting as a participant, later becoming a volunteer, and now proudly working as an employee.”
Every Step Counts
We’re incredibly grateful to the team for taking on this huge challenge in support of Enable Ability. Their efforts will not only help raise funds, but will also shine a light on the importance of inclusion, opportunity, and support for adults with disabilities.
We’ll be cheering the team on every step of the way and can’t wait to hear all about their adventure!
